Singer Seo In-young appeared with Mimiminu on episode 4 of the E Channel show Seo In-young’s Trend Kkondae, which aired October 22. Divorce lawyer Park Min-cheol joined them for a discussion of compensation and property division. Before introducing the subject, Mimiminu acknowledged that it could be sensitive for Seo, who has been divorced. The program also examined divorce cases involving wealthy figures overseas and business leaders in Korea.

The episode included an account posted to an online community about a man in his early 30s who reportedly gave his longtime girlfriend 50 million won when they broke up. The account said he felt sorry that their relationship had cost her time to marry. Seo said a man had been considerate after hearing an online account of him giving his former girlfriend 50 million won when they broke up. She referred to her own divorce and later joked that she had not expected her marriage to end. Seo said she wanted her upcoming remarriage to go well. She added that she had felt the same way before.

Park said a spouse’s contributions during marriage matter when property is divided in a divorce. He advised keeping diaries or messages documenting childcare and household work. His examples included preparing children’s lunches, picking them up, handling family insurance, doing laundry and cleaning. He said records of that work could be submitted to a court.

Seo asked whether a recording of a phone call about household and childcare work could also serve as evidence. After hearing that recordings could be used, she said she had switched to a Samsung phone for its recording feature. When Mimiminu wondered whether the discussion would help viewers, Seo said some people would need the information. Park said keeping records could also encourage people to pay closer attention to married life.

The conversation also turned to prenuptial agreements. Seo had ranked No. 1 in a 2010 matchmaking company survey asking which female celebrity seemed most likely to write one. She said she had thought an agreement was necessary at the time but did not sign one when she married. Seo said she regretted not signing a prenuptial agreement when she married and advised viewers to write one.

Seo asked whether a written promise to surrender property if a spouse was unfaithful would be effective. Park said a right to property division arises at divorce and cannot be waived in advance, whether before or during marriage. He distinguished that from an agreement setting damages for infidelity, giving tens of millions of won or 100 million won as examples of possible amounts.

Seo married a businessman outside the entertainment industry in 2023. They divorced by mutual agreement the following year. She has since been reported to be preparing to remarry.
