Martin Freeman is a British actor. Rachel Benaissa is a French actor who also writes scripts. Freeman and Benaissa began dating in 2020 and married earlier this year. Freeman is 55 and Benaissa is 32, an age difference of 23 years. News of their marriage emerged months after the ceremony, following about 6 years together.

The couple attended the premiere of Freeman’s new film The Long Winter. A report dated October 15 described Freeman wearing a gold wedding band and Benaissa wearing an engagement ring at the event.

Benaissa appeared in the series Normal People and This Way Up and the film Irish Wish. The Netflix film stars Lindsay Lohan. Benaissa also placed 2nd in a broadcaster’s pilot script competition and is developing a dark comedy horror series.

Freeman became known for the British sitcom The Office. Freeman played John Watson in the series Sherlock. He won a supporting actor Emmy for that role. He also played Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit trilogy and Everett Ross in Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther.

Before dating Benaissa, Freeman lived with actor Amanda Abbington for 16 years. They met on a film set in 2000, have a son and a daughter, and separated in 2016, 10 years before the reported marriage. They played John and Mary Watson in Sherlock. Abbington previously said they kept their separation private for about 6 months while continuing to work on the series, and that they continued to respect each other as actors.

Benaissa is reported to be close to Freeman’s two children. In a recent broadcast appearance, Freeman said he enjoys cooking with her and that she likes cheese and wine.
