Broadcaster Jung Hyung-don opened a pork cutlet restaurant in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. The operator of the Jaeschelin Guide YouTube channel visited Jung’s new shop as its first customer on opening day. The reviewer posted a video on October 20 and said they had arrived 1½ hours before opening because they thought customers might gather. No one was ahead of them.

The reviewer ordered Doni Donkatsu and Black Doni Donkatsu at 13,900 won each, cheese cutlet at 14,900 won and stir-fried kimchi cutlet at 12,900 won. Rice and drinks were self-service. They described the breading as crisp, the seasoning as mild and the meat as clean-tasting. The food reminded them of freshly fried, old-style pork cutlet, though they did not present the shop as a destination for an exceptional meal.

The reviewer said the cheese spilled out when they cut the cheese cutlet but allowed for it being opening day. They considered the stir-fried kimchi cutlet fairly priced and said they would choose it on another visit. In a comment, the reviewer questioned why it cost 1,000 won less than the standard cutlet. Other commenters criticized the cutlets’ size and prices. One objected to the serving of two pieces of cabbage. Some welcomed the self-service rice and drinks or said they would consider a visit when eating pork cutlet in Seongsu-dong.

Jung launched a pork cutlet product bearing his name with Yummy Food in 2011. It sold out 14 minutes into its first home-shopping broadcast. In 2013, prosecutors indicted four people, including a manufacturer’s representative, on allegations that the amount of sirloin in the product had been mislabeled. Prosecutors alleged that products made with 135 grams of sirloin were presented as containing 162 grams, yielding improper gains of 7.619 billion won. The case ended with fines.

Jung changed manufacturers and introduced another pork cutlet product in 2018. Some products Jung introduced were withdrawn from sale and recalled in 2020 after enterohemorrhagic E. coli was detected.
