Tom Cruise appeared in an interview posted to Sung Si-kyung’s YouTube channel on Oct. 12. In South Korea to promote Digger, Cruise joined Sung’s series Mannal Tende. Sung introduced himself as a singer of 26 years, as well as a DJ and host, before asking Cruise about the film.

Cruise said the film and its character drew him to Digger and that he was a longtime admirer of director Alejandro G. Iñárritu. He recalled visiting the Digger production office to review materials on his first day filming Top Gun: Maverick, then returning to that set. Cruise said work on Digger continued after he finished filming Top Gun: Maverick and through the pandemic. He described the film and its character as unlike any he had encountered before.
